This Award is applicable to deserving and outstanding Eurasian students who have been accepted into the ITE or any one of the five national Polytechnics (NP, NYP, RP, SP, TP) to pursue courses of their choice. The Award covers the full cost of tuition and book stipend to enable the student to complete the required tenure of study.

Students who have passed the GCE ‘N’ and ‘O’ Level examinations of 2024 and who have been accepted into ITE and Polytechnics are eligible to apply for the Merit Bursary Award/ Edward D’Silva Scholarship, which will be given to capable and deserving students, subject to academic performance, CCA achievements and other relevant community participation and leadership roles. The selection will be undertaken by The Eurasian Association Education Selection Panel.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Only students who meet the eligibility criteria will be called for an interview. 

  1. This Award is open to all Eurasian students or students having one parent who is a Eurasian.
  2. Qualification for the Award will be based on academic results achieved in the relevant ‘N’ Level or ‘O’ Level examinations as well as confirmation of acceptance to approved course of studies at the ITE or Polytechnic.
  3. Applicants from families with per capita income of S$1,600 and below would be given every consideration in addition to their academic grades.
  4. Applicants will be interviewed by an Education Selection Panel constituted by The Eurasian Association. The decision made by the Panel is final. Selection of applicants for the Award will be competitive and based on academic merit as well as financial position of the families.
  5. Additional consideration will be granted to applicants who have (in order of priority) taken part in voluntary work with The Eurasian Association, or who have impressive records of co-curricular activities in schools, or strong leadership potential.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Eurasian Association reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions accordingly.

  1. The Award will be paid annually for the student’s course of study, which covers course and miscellaneous fees, recommended textbooks, transport fees and other ancillary costs related to completion of the course. These costs will be specified by the EA Education Selection Panel and may be reviewed on a periodic basis.
  2. The Merit Bursary Award covers 3 years of study*, capped at S$3,600 per year, thus S$10,800 in total for 3 years for Polytechnic students. The Award covers 2 years of study, capped at S$1,600 per year, thus S$3,200 in total for 2 years for ITE students.
  3. Selected students will be expected to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours per year in EA events and activities, to help in our key pillars of education, family support services and community engagement.
  4. The Award will only cover approved courses.
  5. Continuation of funding will be dependent on the final exam results of each academic year as well as completion of the volunteer hours. Should a student fail an academic year or withdraw from the course, he/she will be required to pay back the disbursed amount to The Eurasian Association.

* The Edward D’Silva Scholarship covers one year of study.

    1. Birth Certificate and NRIC of applicant
    2. Applicant’s previous exam results and testimonials of past schools
    3. Parents’ NRIC
    4. Pay Slip and CPF Contribution History of all working and non-working adults in the household
    5. NRIC of ALL family members staying in the same household
  1. False particulars or willful suppression of material facts will lead to disqualification, or if the Award is Awarded, to termination of the Award.
  2. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by The Eurasian Association Education Selection Panel.
  3. The Eurasian Association will not enter into correspondence with regard to the reasons for non-selection of applicant.
  4. The closing date for submission is 30th April 2025.
